We currently have no vacancies.
However, we are likely to be setting up an outreach operation in the Great Yarmouth or eastern part of Norfolk towards the end of 2013. It will be similar to the operation in Swaffham. If you are interested in working for us get in touch. We always ask job seekers to volunteer for at least a day so we can see how they work with young people and to make sure they fully understand what the job involves. They need to decide whether they like working with us and we have to make sure they would fit in. We are a very small operation with a high level of mutual dependence and massive personal commitment all round. We can't afford to make recruitment mistakes. New colleagues are always employed on short-term contracts initially so we can see how things work out.
We are an inclusive employer with no regard to race, gender, sexuality, religion or politics. While we consider applicants of any age, if you are under 20 we are likely to advise you to go away and get some more experience of life. We now have a policy of always saying no to young people who want to stay on beyond 16 to work for us even as volunteers. We ask for no particular qualifications or experience; current employees include the following: a teacher, a swimming pool life-guard, a youth worker, a builder, a retired naval rating, a night club bouncer, a shop worker, a teaching assistant. They all have one thing in common - they love working with challenging young people. In the last year two of our part-time staff have been doing degrees. We encourage all our staff to train for teaching qualifications and instructors certificates and provide them with every support.
